How a joke among the QA community turned into a series of Vibe Coding experiments.
Hello dear reader,
Are you familiar with the term “vibe coding”? Yes. Maybe. Still not? In today’s AI world, this term is becoming increasingly popular. Put simply, it’s about building apps and solutions without coding skills in minutes. Not always minutes, but some simple can be done.
Vibe coding is an AI-dependent programming practice where a programmer describes a problem in a few sentences as a prompt to a large language model (LLM) tuned for coding.
Today, I would like to talk about a joke from the QA community that sparked a series of Vibe Coding experiments. Without giving anything away, it was a great and interesting experience.
However, it would be helpful to start from the beginning and explain how we got here.
How it started?
A few weeks ago, members of the Suvoré QA community were invited to watch a Udemy course created by
that was still in the design phase (Vibe Coding: AI-Driven Software Development and Testing). As you might guess, the course was about Vibe Coding. Although I was impressed by the two hours of prepared videos, I didn’t start practicing after watching them.
P.S. At the time this article was created, the course was expanded to include additional sections, and that’s not the end.
Each saga should have a beginning — often unplanned, sometimes absurd, but always the spark that ignites the story.
A day or two later, we discussed the possibility of automating a random generator in the community. We have a format called “Random Coffee.” It’s a mini-meeting format in which randomly chosen people meet online to get to know each other. Of course, only those who want to participate will be on the list. The problem was that there were already duplicates of the pairs. So, we asked if we could create a simple program to emulate this process while taking into account people who have already met. Someone even joked that I could try vibe coding if I had already passed this course. At first, I laughed too, but then I decided it was a great idea to try :)
That’s how I met your mom, kids…. No, this is from another TV show.
Anyway. That’s how the Vibe Coding journey began.
